Topic: Love Yourself [Friday July 10, 2015]
“…Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”-Matthew 22:39
It is so easy to spot people that lack love or feel uncomfortable about themselves. They would always want to change everything about them, ranging from their skin colour and the way they speak even to their body proportions, with surgery. Even with how different the people that are affected are, one common thing between them all is that they have complex issues which if not handled, may lead to depression.
Love is the greatest commandment on the earth; but love starts with and from you. You cannot love someone when you do not love yourself. My husband usually says that you cannot give what you don’t have. So, you must first have love by being appreciative of who you are, where you are from and your abilities, before you can love someone else, even in return.
It is proven that those who don’t love themselves always seek for approval from others. They want to be accepted and “loved”, so they do just anything to feel that way. However, you must understand that no one can love you like you.
If you love yourself, you would seek improvement in every aspect of your life. You would find your purpose and work by it. You would care, nurture and feed your spirit, soul and body with nutrients that matter to it. Loving yourself does not only entail saying it; you have to act it by paying attention to key areas that would conform you to the image God has in mind for you.
This begins with the true salvation of your soul. That is where God’s love radiates in your heart (Romans 5:5). Value who you are, what you have and where you are headed; you are meant for the top. In fact, two of the blessings Jesus restored to you at redemption are your beauty and colour. However, if you don’t love yourself, you won’t see how beautiful and colourful you are. May your eyes of understanding be enlightened in the name of Jesus Christ!
Remain Blessed!
