Man was not created to seek things; he was not created to pay bills or chase the material things of this world. Man was created to have dominion over things; everything, including finances and other material things were put under his feet at creation (Psalm 8:6-8). Man was created to seek God; to seek the well being of God’s Kingdom as a priority. He was created to facilitate the extension of God’s kingdom from heaven to the earth.
King Solomon said:
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” – Ecclesiastes 12:13The whole duty of man is not to chase after the basic things of life; it is not to run after the luxuries of the earth; it is not to be driven by the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and pride of life. It is to fear God and keep his commandments.
Jesus Christ responding to the question of one of the Scribes said:
“…The first of all the commandments is, hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.” – Mark 12:30For the umpteenth time, the whole duty of man is to fear Him and to obey his commandments. His first commandment is to love God with all the heart, with all the soul, with all the mind and with all the strength. To love Him is to serve Him (Deuteronomy 10:12). To serve Him is to seek Him and to seek Him is to serve Him. Those that seek God and His Kingdom first are those that keep the first commandment (Matthew 6:33).
No position is good enough for God in our heart, soul, mind and strength other than the first. If God and His Kingdom are first in our consideration it will be obvious in our thoughts, words, decisions, and our actions.
