Kogi Govt to support community development

Kogi State Government says it will not relent in its support for communities that are development conscious.

Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, stated this at the first anniversary of the presentation of the staff of office to the Elegbe of Egbe, and the 2015 Egbe Unity Day, held at Egbe.

The Governor who was represented at the occasion by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, commended the initiative of the people to build a town hall, construct access roads, sink boreholes, and the construction of an Administrative building as well as the laying of foundation works for the Residential Buildings and Palace Primary School in Egbe, described the feat as commendable.

The Governor praised the people for their sense of unity, said government would not relent in supporting communities with people oriented programs as Egbe community, praised them for their sense of industry and self development.

While noting that the return to site by the contractor handling the Kabba- Egbe- Ilorin road, has topped the agenda of the present administration, he appealed to the people to persevere a little, this he said is to allow the present administration of President Mohammadu Buhari settle down and to enable the contractor return to site.

Capt Wada assured that his administration has made efforts in providing water, roads, electricity and good health care facilities to the people of Egbe, assured that the administration will do more for the area as the resources permit, and commended the people of the area for their support to his administration.

While noting that the task of development is the collective responsibility of all, Capt Wada, urged other communities in the state to emulate the effort of Egbe people, whose unity is serving as strength for self help and development.

In an address, Oba Ayodele Irukera, the Elegbe of Egbe, and Chairman Yagba West LGA Traditional Council, expressed gratitude to the people for the show of unity and cooperation, which he noted has translated into development of the area and called for more of such cooperation in the years ahead.

In a welcome remarks, Rev S.O. Babawarun, Chairman Local Organizing Committee, Egbe Unity Day 2015, said the sum of N41million has so far been spent in the development project, thanked sons and daughters of the area for their contribution and congratulated Oba Irukera for a successful one year in office that has brought peace and progress to the area.
