Joel and Victoria Osteen’s daily devotional October 1, 2016 – He Gives You Power

Today’s Scripture: “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth...” - (Deuteronomy 8:18, NKJV)

Topic: He Gives You Power [October 1, 2016]

God wants to do something great in and through you. He has promises and blessings in store for you that you haven’t even thought of yet. The scripture tells us that He gives us power to gain wealth. Wealth is simply having abundance. God wants you to live in abundance so that He can use you to be a blessing to others. When we are willing and obedient, we open the door to His promises. In other words, when we live in excellence and integrity, when we follow the Word of God, we will walk in His blessing. Like a tree planted by the water, your leaf will not wither because you are connected to an unlimited supply line.

Nigeria is 56 years old today. Consequently it is time to speak some home-truths and look at where we are in the scheme of things.

It is time to consider how well our governnent has fared since coming to power and to compare their record of service to previous governments that were in the saddle before them. Sadly the score sheet does not look too good.

Great things happen when you continually confess the mercy of God. Faith rises up on the inside of you. The reality that God loves you begins to sing through your spirit.

Pray For Her Peace Continuously

A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

Topic: Pray For Her Peace Continuously [01/10/2016]

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Psalms 122:1. Read: Ps 122:1-9

Pray for the peace of your Nation - Nigeria. Why should we pray for her peace? Because in her peace we'll experience peace too. But we've been praying yet, have not see any change. Pray again. For how long? till the day you see a positive change. But how are we sure there would be a positive change? That's the problem. That's why it seems the prayers we've been praying is not getting answers, we've all given up on the potency of prayers. We've allowed the challenges of this nation to weigh on us that we only see the negative side and ignore what prayers can do. Instead of praying for the leader (irrespective of their hardened heart), we curse them, thereby cursing our own future. We've forgotten easily that only through faith and patience, the patriarchs of old inherited what was promised them. Therefore, ours cannot but be the same. From old till date, prayer has never lost its potent power. Note that, peace doesn't mean absence of war, but peace in the midst of war.

Billy Graham’s daily devotional October 1, 2016 - Our Defeated Foe

Topic: Our Defeated Foe [October 1, 2016]

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword . . . – Hebrews 4:12

How do we overcome the devil in everyday life? First, we need to recognize that the devil is a defeated foe. The Son of God came to undo the work of the devil. The crucifixion of Christ, which looked like a mighty victory for Satan, turned out to be a great triumph for God, because it was on the cross that Jesus took your sins and my sins. God laid our sins on Christ, so that when our Lord bowed His head and said, “It is finished,” He was referring to the plan of redemption and salvation. Then . . . we are to resist the devil. If we resist him, Scripture says, he will flee from us. Jesus overcame the devil not by argument but simply by quoting Scripture. That is why it is so important to learn and memorize Scripture passages.

Text: John 8:30-36

Key Verse: "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" (John 8:36).

Freedom is a universal pursuit of people everywhere. It is the desire to be allowed to lead an unlettered life; to aspire to attain the highest goals possible without hindrance; to have the liberty to chart the course of one's life. Many people go the extra mile not just to obtain freedom for themselves, but also to defend it. They amass great wealth in the quest for financial and economic freedom; set limits to prevent any infringement, all in the search of political and social freedom. Yet, lasting freedom comes from neither political nor socio-economic well-being. It comes only from Jesus Christ.

Stand firm in the Lord. - Philippians 4:1

Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, China, is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. To view its towering cliffs in all their glorious splendor, you must take the Tianmen Shan cable car, which covers a distance of 7,455 meters (4.5 miles). It’s amazing how this cable car can travel such long distances and scale such steep mountains without any motor on the car itself. Yet it moves safely up these spectacular heights by keeping a strong grip on a cable that is moved by a powerful motor.
