David Abioye's Daily Devotional December 31, 2016 – Never Mind Who Is Against You

Topic: Never Mind Who Is Against You [December 31, 2016]

...If God be for (you), who can be against (you)? Romans 8:31

Thinking of who is against you is of no use because it will make no difference to you.

Joyce Meyer's daily devotional December 31, 2016 – A Spiritual Mind

Topic: A Spiritual Mind [December 31, 2016]

For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit.Romans 8:5

If you are walking in the flesh, it’s because you put your mind on fleshly things. If you’re walking in the Spirit, it’s because you put your mind on spiritual things.

Open Heavens 31 December 2016: Saturday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Acceptable Service

Topic: Acceptable Service [Saturday 31, December 2016]

Memorise: Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. – James 1:27

Read: Romans 12:1-2 (KJV)

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Dunamis’ Daily Devotional December 31, 2016 by Pastor Paul Enenche – Miracles in the Deep

Topic: Miracles in the Deep [December 31, 2016]

Scripture: Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught…And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. Luke 5:4-6

Thought For The Day: The end of human effort is the beginning of Divine input.

Kenneth Copeland’s daily devotional December 31, 2016 - Don't Speak—Shout Your Victory!

Topic: Don't Speak—Shout Your Victory! [December 31, 2016]

From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised. - Psalm 113:3

Praise God. Praise Him in the morning. Praise Him at noon. Praise Him at night. If you've never praised God in your life, then get started right now. Praise Him for freedom. Praise Him for healing and Calvary. Praise Him for the Name of Jesus.

DCLM Daily Manna December 31, 2016 by Pastor Kumuyi – Looking Back and Looking Forward

Topic: Looking Back and Looking Forward [December 31, 2016]

Text: 1 Samuel 7:1-12

Key Verse: "Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us" (1 Samuel 7:12).

Life is short. However long a journey is, it must surely come to an end. Most men wrongly hold the belief that life will last forever, only to discover that it is like a vapour, seen one moment, yet evaporates the next minute. The children of Israel had suffered much from the hands of the Philistines because of their sins. They were in bondage of fear. The ark of God captured by the Philistines had been released because the Lord poured His wrath upon them.

Billy Graham’s daily devotional December 31, 2016 - God Loves You!

Topic: God Loves You! [December 31, 2016]

We know how much God loves us because we have felt his love . . .  —1 John 4:16 (TLB)

Never question God’s great love, for it is as unchangeable a part of God as is His holiness. Were it not for the love of God, none of us would ever have a chance in the future life. But God is love! And His love for us is everlasting.

Our Daily Bread devotional, December 31, 2016 - Now Is the Day

Topic: Now Is the Day [December 31, 2016]

Read: 2 Corinthians 5:18–6:2, Bible in a Year: Malachi 1–4; Revelation 22

I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2

Our preschool-age granddaughter Maggie and her kindergarten-age sister Katie hauled several blankets to the backyard, where they proceeded to build a blanket tent in which to play. They had been outside a while when their mom heard Maggie call for her.

Winning Wisdom: Great Power And Grace

Author: Ese Ehimare Dave
Topic: Great Power And Grace [Saturday, 31th Dec. 2016]

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. - Acts 4:33

Before the coming of the Holy Spirit to the Church, they were just a gathering of listless men and women. They couldn't give witness about Jesus Christ. Some of them even went back to fishing. They were without direction. But when the Holy Spirit came, things changed for the Church. They were endowed with great grace. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Grace (Hebrews 10:29), and when He came, He came with great grace.

A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

Topic: He Can Still Do It [30/12/2016]

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.Mark 11:22. Mk 11:21-26

Pastor J. T. Kalejaiye told a story sometimes ago on how God promised him a Mercedes Benz car. He was expecting the car to have come early but to no avail but I kept hoping, believing in the efficacy of God's word. It was December 31st, behold, no Mercedes Benz, my hope was still strong knowing that God is too faithful to fail anyone that trust in him. I was the in the Church preparing for the crossover service for the new year when someone called me out, behold, a Mercedes Benz car packed. Sir, this is your car he said. Hope and faith actualized the promise of God in his life.

David Abioye's daily devotional December 30, 2016 – Life Is Marathon

Topic: Life Is Marathon [December 30, 2016]

...In due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

Winning is not for sprint but for marathon runners.

Every man’s blessing comes in the end.  Only those that stay to the end, wins. Habakkuk.2.3; Matthew 24:13

Joyce Meyer's daily devotional December 30, 2016 – Love Out Loud

Topic: Love Out Loud [December 30, 2016]

. . . You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect). This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.  — Matthew 22:37-39

Loving God, yourself, and other people should be our focus in life. We should be "love-focused" individuals. Receive God's amazing, unconditional love, then you can love yourself and live to give the love away that God has given to you. It is God's number one priority, and it should be ours also.

Open Heavens 30 December 2016: Friday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – The Lord’s Spokesman

Topic: The Lord’s Spokesman [Friday 30, December 2016]

Memorise: Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. – 2 Corinthians 5:20

Read: 1 Peter 4:10-11 (KJV)

10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Dunamis’ Daily Devotional December 30, 2016 by Pastor Paul Enenche – The Seal of Distinction

Topic: The Seal of Distinction [December 30, 2016]

Scripture: And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. Luke 1:28

Thought For The Day: Any man who stands out is allocated authority over his contemporaries.

It is possible for people to live in the same environment and have different level of attainments in life. Siblings of the same conception may end in different destinations. For instance, Jacob and Esau were products of the same conception, yet they ended differently in life and destiny. While Esau’s memory is nowhere to be found on earth today, Jacob’s descendants constitutes one of the most notable nations on earth called Israel.

DCLM Daily Manna December 30, 2016 by Pastor Kumuyi – Not An Easy Ride

Topic: Not An Easy Ride [December 30, 2016]

Text: Jeremiah 12:1-6

Key Verse: "If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?" (Jeremiah 12:5).

A story was told of a boy who deliberately failed third grade so he wouldn't have to go into fourth grade and write with ink! Today, children are not worrying about using ink in elementary school but are learning to use simple computer programs so they'll be prepared to use more difficult programs in high school and college. There's no growth without challenge, and there's no challenge without change.

Billy Graham’s daily devotional December 30, 2016 - Why We Have the Bible

Topic: Why We Have the Bible [December 30, 2016]

These are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God . . . — John 20:31

God caused the Bible to be written for the express purpose of revealing to us God’s plan for His redemption. God caused the Book to be written that He might make His everlasting laws clear to His children, and that they might have His great wisdom to guide them, and His great love to comfort them as they make their way through life. For without the Bible this world would indeed be a dark and frightening place, without signpost or beacon. The Bible easily qualifies as the only book in which God’s revelation is contained.

Our Daily Bread devotional, December 30, 2016 - Time Alone with God

Topic: Time Alone With God [December 30, 2016]

Read: Matthew 14:13–23, Bible in a Year: Zechariah 13–14; Revelation 21

[Jesus] went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Matthew 14:23

It was a busy morning in the church room where I was helping. Nearly a dozen little children were chattering and playing. There was so much activity that the room became warm and I propped the door open. One little boy saw this as his chance to escape so when he thought no one was looking, he tiptoed out the door. Hot on his trail, I wasn’t surprised that he was headed straight for his daddy’s arms.

David Abioye's daily devotional December 29, 2016 – God Is Closer To Us Than the Enemy Is

Topic: God Is Closer To Us Than the Enemy Is [December 29, 2016]

…Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. - Matthew 28:20

Contrary to man’s thinking that God is far away in time of problems.  God is the very present help in trouble. Ps 46:1.

Solution is closer to us than problems are.Gen.21:19

Joyce Meyer's daily devotional December 29, 2016 – Celebrate the Positive

Topic: Celebrate the Positive [December 29, 2016]

For we all often stumble and fall and offend in many things. And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature. — James 3:2

Our thoughts and words about ourselves are tremendously important. In order to overcome the negative thinking and speaking that have been such a natural part of our lifestyle for so long, we must make a conscious effort to meditate on and speak positive things about ourselves. We need to get our mouth in line with what the Word of God says about us.

Forgive All

Author: Emode Victor
A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

Topic: Forgive All [29/12/2016]

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Matthew 5:44. Read: Matt 5:43-48

It's barely 72 hours to the end of this year and to enter into the new year too. This is so good to know. I know some went through tough times this year, whatever, just thank God that you are still alive to witness today because many have gone too soon. Well, this is what the Bible says concerning you in Psalm 66:12, "Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place". God is bringing you into a wealthy place in 2017 in Jesus Mighty name. But you must prepare the ground for that blessing to land safely.

Memorise: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Dunamis’ Daily Devotional December 29, 2016 by Pastor Paul Enenche - The Mystery of Faith

Topic: The Mystery of Faith [December 29, 2016]

Scripture: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.’ Hebrews 11:6

Thought For The Day: Faith is seeing the invisible, doing the incredible and experiencing the impossible.

DCLM Daily Manna December 29, 2016 by Pastor Kumuyi – A Nation In Decay

Topic: A Nation In Decay [December 29, 2016]

Text: Ezekiel 8:1-6

Key Verse: "He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations" (Ezekiel 8:6).

The dictionary meaning of syncretism is the amalgamation of different religions, cultures or schools of thought. Syncretism among Christians is the dilution of the essential truths of the gospel with the incorporation of non-Christian elements. The addition of seemingly harmless elements like Christian songs with worldly beats, stand-up comedy and beauty pageant, can just be the right tools the devil uses to corrupt the gospel. From our text, prophet Ezekiel was in a meeting with the elders of Israel when suddenly, the glory of God was revealed.

Our Daily Bread devotional, December 29, 2016 - Signet Ring

Topic: Signet Ring [December 29, 2016]

Read: Haggai 2:15–23, Bible in a Year: Zechariah 9–12; Revelation 20

“I will make you like my signet ring, for I have chosen you,” declares the Lord. Haggai 2:23

When I first made the acquaintance of a new friend from abroad, I noticed his posh English accent and that he wore a ring on his little finger. Later I learned that this wasn’t just jewelry; it revealed his family’s history through the family crest engraved on it.

Kenneth Copeland’s daily devotional December 29, 2016 - Remember Noah

Topic: Remember Noah [December 29, 2016]

And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. - Genesis 6:7-8

One of the dirtiest, most damaging lies that the devil ever told you was when he said, "You aren't important." Don't you ever believe that.

Billy Graham’s daily devotional December 29, 2016 - We Cannot Out-Give God

Topic: We Cannot Out-Give God [December 29, 2016]

A tenth of the produce of the land . . . is the Lord's. — Leviticus 27:30 (TLB)

We are to be stewards of our money. When it is invested and shared for the glory of God, it can be a boon and a blessing. I know a businessman in Detroit, Michigan, who made a promise to God that he would tithe his entire income to the work of the Lord. He said his business had tripled, and that God had more than fulfilled His end of the bargain.

Winning Wisdom: The Christian GPS

Topic: The Christian GPS [Thursday, 29th Dec. 2016]

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Jude 1:20

A GPS ( Global Positioning System) is a satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather conditions anywhere on earth. When you're not familiar with a particular place or neighborhood, a GPS  navigation device can help you pinpoint your location and help you find your way around easily.

True Resolution

A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

Topic: True Resolution [28/12/2016]

Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved. Matthew 9:17. Jn 15:1-5

Resolution is the process of making a firm decision to either pursue a course or restrain from a course. Resolution helps one to become jack of one trade and master of it. It helps you define your life accurately. You pour your strength on a course and pursue it until you accomplish it. Year in year out, on 31st of December, many of us make new year resolutions. We go to Church (even those that have not been to Church since the beginning of the year) to resolute before God. We tell God mostly what we want to achieve in the new year. We tell Him we need His support. Some tell God to help them quit some certain habits which has become a stigma to them. Am very sure that many are or have written down their new year resolutions awaiting 31st to come.

Winning Wisdom: Worship Part 3

Topic: Worship Part 3 [Wednesday, 28th Dec. 2016]

You will show me the path that leads to life; your presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure forever. Psalms 16:11 GNT

I was communing in my heart quite recently and a question popped up in my heart, "Lord, how do You want Your worship?" I heard very subtly in my heart, "You don't worship better on a Sunday morning than you do any other day of the week."

Wednesday 28 December 2016

Joyce Meyer's daily devotional December 28, 2016 – Prove Your Love

Topic: Prove Your Love [December 28, 2016]

So when He had finished washing their feet and had put on His garments and had sat down again, He said to them, do you understand what I have done to you? — John 13:12

I believe that only secure people can be true servants. Jesus was able to put on a servant's towel and wash the feet of His disciples because He knew Who He was, where He came from, and where He was going. He had no fear and nothing to prove, so He was free to serve. Many people in our society need a high position to make them feel that they have worth and value. Being a servant is often looked on as a low job, but in God's mind it is the highest position that exists. Being a true servant begins with a humble heart, and that is a heart and spirit that is acceptable to God. No matter what our natural employment may be, our call from God is to serve Him and others.

David Abioye's daily devotional December 28, 2016 – Do Nothing And Get Nothing

Topic: Do Nothing And Get Nothing [December 28, 2016]

The formula for getting nothing is simple and straight forward: just simply do nothing.

This is the line between success and failure.

Open Heavens 28 December 2016: Wednesday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Spiritual Warfare II

Topic: Spiritual Warfare II [Wednesday 28, December 2016]

Memorise: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.James 5:15

Read: Ephesians 6:16-18 (KJV)

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Dunamis’ Daily Devotional December 28, 2016 by Pastor Paul Enenche - Forgiveness - A Key to Answered Prayers

Topic: Forgiveness - A Key To Answered Prayers [December 28, 2016]

Scripture: And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Mark 11:25-26

Thought For The Day: To forgive is to give at a high level.

It is not enough to only know how to pray; it is important to know how to pray with the right keys. You can only open a door when you have access to the right keys.

DCLM Daily Manna December 28, 2016 by Pastor Kumuyi – A City Without Parallel

Topic: A City Without Parallel [December 28, 2016]

Text: Psalm 87:1-7

Key Verse: "The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God" (Psalm 87:2,3).

Lance Lambert described Jerusalem as "a city located among mountains which present a breath- taking view. It can be seen at sunset when the colours of her stone glows with ethereal light. But the real beauty of Jerusalem is of the spiritual ideal, a thought out of the mind of God crystallised in stone and history". Jerusalem is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities of the world; it is the melting pot of culture and religion.

Billy Graham’s daily devotional December 28, 2016 - Cure for Our Troubles

Topic: Cure for Our Troubles [December 28, 2016]

. . . preaching peace by Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all). — Acts 10:36

Would it not be wonderful if we could find an absolute cure for the troubles of human nature? Suppose we could give a shot in the arm to the whole human race that would fill people with love instead of hate, with contentment instead of greed. Suppose, also, a cure could be found for the past mistakes, failures, and sins of mankind.

Kenneth Copeland’s daily devotional December 28, 2016 - Major on Mercy

Topic: Major on Mercy [December 28, 2016]

...I beseech thee, show me thy glory. - Exodus 33:18

What would you say is the single, most outstanding thing about God? What's His most important characteristic? Some people would say it's His power. Others, His holiness. But God Himself would give a different answer.

Our Daily Bread devotional, December 28, 2016 - Locked Into Love

Topic: Locked Into Love [December 28, 2016]

Read: Romans 8:31–39, Bible in a Year: Zechariah 5–8; Revelation 19

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 106:1

In June 2015, the city of Paris removed forty-five tons of padlocks from the railings of the Pont des Arts pedestrian bridge. As a romantic gesture, couples would etch their initials onto a lock, attach it to the railing, click it shut, and throw the key into the River Seine.

Hope Never Dies

Author: Emode Victor
A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

Topic: Hope Never Dies [27/12/2016]

For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. Ecclesiastes 9:4. Read: Rom 5:5

Hope never dies unless the recipient gives up his hope. When a man gives up hope on any endeavour of his life, it's tantamount to looming  his life because hope is the anchor of life. Hope tells you all things are going to be alright, don't give up yet. Hope tells you in the midst of abnormality that all things will soon become normal again. With this kind of encouragement from within, persevere in whatever you are going through at that moment. A life without hope is a life without a certain future destination. Once you give up hope you give up life. Whatever the situation might be, you must deliberately keep hope alive because its all you've got to come out of that situation successfully. You must be hopeful positively not negatively. Many linger in their predicament not because they don't have hope but their hope is negative.

Topic: How To Solve Problems [December 27, 2016]

First of all realize that problems are real; don’t be surprised by it.

To be confronted by a problem is not strange. It is normal.

Joyce Meyer's daily devotional December 27, 2016 – Powerful Prayer

Topic: Powerful Prayer [December 27, 2016]

The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. — James 5:16

For prayer to be effective it must be fervent. However, if we misunderstand the word fervent, we may feel that we have to "work up" some strong emotion before we pray; otherwise, our prayers will not be effective. At times I experience a great deal of emotion while at prayer, sometimes I even cry. But there are plenty of times when I don't feel emotional and don't cry. I am sincere in my praying, but I don't feel anything out of the ordinary. We can't base the value of our prayers on feelings. I remember enjoying so much those prayer times when I could feel God's presence, and then wondering what was wrong during the times when I didn't feel anything. I learned after a while that faith is not based on feelings in the emotions, but on knowledge in the heart.

Text: Galatians 5:19-26

Key Verse: "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness" (Galatians 5:19).

Latimer was raised to the bishopric of Worcester in the reign of Henry VIII. It was the custom in those days for each of the bishops to make a present to the king on New Year Day. Latimer went with the rest of his brethren to make the usual offering. But instead of a purse of gold, he presented the king with a New Testament in which was a leaf doubled down to this passage. "Whoremongers and adulterers God will judge".

Kenneth Copeland’s daily devotional December 27, 2016 - Don't Answer

Topic: Don't Answer [December 27, 2016]

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. - Romans 12:2

Be not conformed to this world. If you live like the world, you'll be overcome by the world. It's as simple as that. So don't let the world squeeze you into its own mold.

Billy Graham’s daily devotional December 27, 2016 - Find Peace With God

Topic: Find Peace With God [December 27, 2016]

The Lord will bless his people with peace. — Psalm 29:11

How do we find peace with God? We must stop fighting! We must surrender! We must serve! Of course, these steps will be motivated by faith and mingled with love. Having found peace with God, next we experience the peace of God.

Our Daily Bread devotional, December 27, 2016 - The Power of Simple Words

Topic: The Power of Simple Words [December 27, 2016]

Read: 2 Peter 1:12–21, Bible in a Year: Zechariah 1–4; Revelation 18

We did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2 Peter 1:16

Raucous laughter marked the guests in my father's hospital room: Two old truck drivers, one former country/western singer, one craftsman, two women from neighboring farms, and me.

Winning Wisdom: worship part 2

Topic: Worship part 2 [Tuesday, 27th Dec. 2016]

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive tree fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls....yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be be joyful in God my Saviour Habakkuk. 3:17-18 NIV

Worship is a deliberate act. Many times, we've had people encourage us to take no thought about our needs yet to be met and other unfavourable happenings and focus on the good ones and thank God for them. As good as that is, I want to say that we raise the bar when we dare to give God worship even in the seemingly unpleasant situations.

These things have I spoken unto you that you should not be offended. - John 16:1

Offence is a master killer.

Living in offence is living with death without knowing.

Joyce Meyer's daily devotional December 26, 2016 – Jesus’ Prayer for You

Topic: Jesus’ Prayer for You [December 26, 2016]

And now I am coming to You; I say these things while I am still in the world, so that My joy may be made full and complete and perfect in them [that they may experience My delight fulfilled in them, that My enjoyment may be perfected in their own souls, that they may have My gladness within them, filling their hearts]. — John 17:13

When Jesus prayed to the Father in John 17:13, He actually prayed that we would have joy. He said, “I say these things . . . so that My joy may be made full and complete and perfect in them...” With Jesus Himself speaking and praying such powerful words about His desire for us to have joy, how could we ever doubt that God wants us to be happy and enjoy our lives?

When the set time had fully come, God sent his Son. Galatians 4:4

Sometimes I joke that I'm going to write a book titled On Time. Those who know me smile because they know I am often late. I rationalize that my lateness is due to optimism, not to lack of trying. I optimistically cling to the faulty belief that “this time” I will be able to get more done in less time than ever before. But I can't, and I don't, so I end up having to apologize yet again for my failure to show up on time.
