There has been so much emotionalism developing around the subject of the recent clashes between nomadic pastoralists and farmers, and the seeming emergence of the former as the new Boko Haram, forbidding not Western education this time, but the right of other Nigerians to live in peace and dignity, and to have control over their own geographical territory.

DCLM Daily Manna, Saturday April 30 2016 by Pastor Kumuyi - The Path of Peace

Topic: The Path of Peace [Saturday April 30, 2016]

Text: Joshua 11:10-23

Key Verse: "There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle" (Joshua 11:19).

A onetime prime minister of England, Ramsey MacDonald, was discussing with one of his officials (an expert on foreign affairs) on the possibility of lasting peace. The official was unimpressed and considered the prime minister's idea as unrealistic. He scornfully remarked, "The desire for peace does not necessarily ensure it". To this, the prime minister responded, "Quite true. But neither does the desire for food satisfy your hunger, but at least it gets you started toward a restaurant".

Kenneth Copeland’s daily devotional April 30, 2016 - Be a Cheerful Giver

Topic: Be a Cheerful Giver [April 30, 2016]

Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (that is, He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, “prompt to do it”) giver.... And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance. - 2 Corinthians 9:7-8, The Amplified Bible

Some people say you need to “give till it hurts.” Don’t you believe it. God doesn’t want gifts given in pain. He wants gifts given in joy! In fact, those are the only kinds of gifts that please Him.

Topic: Fear Leads to Worry [April 29, 2016]

And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life? - Matthew 6:27

Fear and worry are closely related. You might say fear is the parent of every kind of worry because every worry starts as a fear. The Bible clearly teaches that God’s children are not to worry. When we worry, we rotate our minds around and around a problem and come up with no answers. The more we do it, the more anxious we feel. When we worry, we actually torment ourselves with a type of thinking that produces no good fruit. Worry starts with our thoughts, but it affects our moods and even our physical bodies.

Sanctions for corrupt judges

Written by the Editorial board of The Guardian Newspaper

The recent sanction carried out by the National Judicial Council (NJC) on Justice Idris Evuti and Justice Tanko Usman of the Niger State High Court for allegedly falsifying their dates of birth, and on Justice O. Gbajabiamila of the Lagos State High Court for delaying delivery of judgment for about two years, is a courageous and commendable action. Coming on the heels of the Federal Government’s anti-corruption drive, and especially on the sanitisation of the judiciary, the NJC has candidly matched action with the forceful declaration made by the Attorney-General of the Federation to deal with unscrupulous elements on the Bench.

As an English clergyman knelt beside the bed of a wealthy dying man, he requested the man to take his hand as he prayed for him in that solemn hour. Nigeria, death and the herdsmen

Written by the Editorial board of The Guardian Newspaper

With the incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers across the country, Nigeria appears headed for another crisis, this time on too many fronts and with such devastating effect as could engulf the whole nation. The recent massacre in Agatu in Benue State and killings in Gassaka and Bali local government areas of Taraba State coupled with the earlier kidnap of a former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae as well as the killing of one of his security guards by herdsmen upped the anxiety. Two days ago in Nimbo, Enugu State, 46 persons at the last count were butchered by the herdsmen. Now, the whole nation is in tears. Indeed, the matter has become such as can threaten the corporate entity called Nigeria. And if there is any time when President Muhammadu Buhari would ever be called upon to see this as a national emergency, it is now.

God sees the end from the beginning. He knows where we are now and is fully aware of every one of our faults, but He also knows where we can be if He keeps loving us and encouraging us to go forward. God changes us from one degree of glory to another, according to 2 Corinthians 3:18, but He also keeps loving, accepting, and approving of us while we are making the journey.

Dear Reader,

There are some identifying marks of a healthy relationship. For example, you will feel built up not torn down. In other words, the relationship will help you become who God wants you to be. Also, you will be drawn closer to others in a healthy way. In healthy relationships, you can also expect mutual trust, respect and vulnerability as well as a balanced sense of giving and taking.

Single persons who are Christians need to choose a kind of relationship that will order their lives around knowing God, rather than engaging in immorality.

Saving for development

Written by the Editorial board of The Guardian Newspaper

When Nigeria’s immediate past Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said the other day that a lack of political will to save oil revenue under the Goodluck Jonathan administration was responsible for the challenges facing the country currently, she was right.

Given that the oil price-based fiscal rule put in place in 2004 helped the country to save $22 billion during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria should have continued with the culture. Those savings became very handy in cushioning the impact of the 2008/2009 global financial crisis on Nigeria’s economy, when fiscal stimulus of five per cent of gross Domestic Product was financed from the savings.

Exclusive Interview with the CEO of ABL, Ugo Udezue

How has the ABL been going so far?

The ABL has been going very well, we have exceeded all our expectations and projections, our fan base is growing, our All Star weekend attracted hundreds of fans from outside Nigeria while the All Star game itself had more than 3000 people in attendance and we have been successful in redefining the value of sports and entertainment in Africa, but most importantly we are proud that our fans find value in this one of a kind innovation. In an era when so many countries are experiencing economic downtime, ABL has created over 300 jobs across Africa in such a short time with our emphasis on local content and the local manufacture of our products in a space that never existed before the ABL.
