APC tasks Buhari to end Rivers political violence, crack down on perpetrators

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has tasked President Muhammadu Buhari to take decisive action to end the lingering political violence in the State and to bring the perpetrators to book. The party made the request in a statement in which it commended the President for coming out boldly to condemn the needless carnage in Rivers and to describe it as “worrisome”.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday arrived Washington DC in the United States to attend the 4th Nuclear Security Summit.

Two health experts on Wednesday in Lagos cautioned against sharing of bath towels, saying it could lead to transmission of infections and diseases.

They told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that sharing of bath towels could result in transmission of diseases like gonorrhea, trichomonas, rashes, eczema among others.

Minister of State for Petroleum Ibe Kachikwu, said on Tuesday in Abuja, that the refineries in the country could not meet local demand of petrol even if they functioned at optimal capacity.

Kachikwu while briefing the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Upstream) on the lingering scarcity of petrol said that the refineries if repaired, could not even meet up to 50 per cent demand.

President Muhammadu Buhari will not sign the 2016 budget bill passed by the National Assembly last week unless lawmakers provide more details of the legislation, a government official said on Tuesday.

The Federal Government is justifiably concerned about Nigeria’s low rating in the current World Bank Index on Ease of Doing Business. Accordingly, the government’s announcement the other day of an Inter-ministerial Committee to recommend measures for improving the business environment is a worthy step. Right now, Nigeria is ranked 169th out of 189 countries. While the initiative to tackle this matter is commendable, lessons must be learnt from the past and aim achievable goals in specific areas and in a given time period must be set.

World’s largest film screen

An extra-large film screen, measuring 100 by 25 meters has been developed by a Chinese company, Chinadaily reports.

According to the media organisation, the manufacturer spent two years developing the 1.6-ton screen, which has been recognized as the world’s largest by the science and technology committee of the state film administration.

Suicide Bomber arrested in Cameroon is NOT a Chibok Girl

The identity of the arrested girl who claimed to be among the schoolgirls kidnapped in Chibok by Boko Haram has been revealed, the Nation reports.

“Available information as regards the acclaimed Chibok girl indicated as follows: Aissatou Musa, who claimed to be one of the Chibok girls, is the daughter of Musa Bladi and Fanta(mother) of Mandara ethnic group," authorities said.

The United States on Monday has stated that it would press Nigeria in talks this week to adopt a more flexible foreign exchange rate to boost growth and investment in the country.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Africa, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, told an audience at the U.S. Institute of Peace that Nigeria should ensure that the value of the naira currency versus the U.S. dollar was "more realistic."

You don’t have to sink down to somebody’s level and argue with them and try to prove that you’re right. You weren’t put on this earth to correct everybody around you.

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has queried the hurried release, by security agencies, of aides of Governor Nyesom Wike who were arrested for malpractices and violence during during the State and National Assembly rerun elections in the State.

The FBI said Monday it successfully used a mysterious technique without Apple Inc.'s help to hack into the iPhone used by a gunman in a mass shooting in California, effectively ending a pitched court battle between the Obama administration and one of the world's leading technology companies.

The government asked a federal judge to vacate a disputed order forcing Apple to help the FBI break into the iPhone, saying it was no longer necessary. The court filing in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California provided no details about how the FBI did it or who showed it how. The FBI is reviewing the information on the iPhone, the Justice Department said in a statement.

The Senior Special Assistant, SSA, to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media, Garba Shehu, said on Sunday that the presidency will soon begin to hold town hall meetings with Nigerians.

Mr. Shehu made this known while answering reporters’ questions in Abuja.

According to him, government decided to embark on such meetings because it has realised the importance of information communication to the people at the grassroots.

Sokoto Govt. set aside N30 million for wedding of 100 couples

The Sokoto State Government says it has set aside N30 million for the organisation of the wedding of 100 couples in the area.

NAN reports that the mass wedding is being coordinated by the State Sunnah Mediation Council.
The Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Aliyu Kofar-Rini, told NAN in Sokoto that the wedding would be conducted before the commencement of Ramadan.

Jesus knew without His presence with them, the world will swap them away. A life without Christ is full of crisis. Jesus was telling them about His returning in form of Holy Spirit to comfort them. "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, all power in heaven and on earth has been given to me" (Matthew 28:18). Yes indeed, all power in heaven and on earth, He has earned. Satan was cast out of heaven because He wanted to usurp God's authority. On earth, he succeeded in usurping the god-man's authority. What took place in Eden was the fight for the authority over the earth, and alas man, who received it from God, seeded it to Satan. So Satan said to Jesus in Luke 4:6 (AMP) "and...to you I will give all this power and authority and their glory (all their magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, and grace), for it has been turned over to me..."

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday, pledged that mass killings of innocent Nigerians, abductions and other criminal atrocities would soon become history in the country.

The president made the pledge in his Easter message to the nation.

He said that his administration was determined to achieve peace and security across the nation by ending the avoidable conflicts and crises that hindered national progress.

He said already the nation’s security apparatus were being reformed and empowered to win the war against terrorism and other criminal activities across the country.

Selfishness is not learned behavior; we are born with it. The Bible refers to it as "sin nature." Adam and Eve sinned against God by doing what He told them not to do, and the sin principle they established was forever passed to every person who would ever be born. God sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins, and to deliver us from them. He came to undo what Adam did.
