DCLM Daily Manna, Thursday April 30, 2015 by Pastor Kumuyi – A Full-Orbed Sacrifice

Topic: A Full-Orbed Sacrifice [Thursday April 30, 2015]

Text: Hebrews 9:11-15

Key Verse: “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Hebrews 9:14).

David Livingstone, that great missionary to Africa, made an attempt to compare the efforts he put into the preaching of the gospel in Africa with the sacrifice Jesus made to redeem mankind from eternal damnation and concluded that there was no ground for comparison. In his words “people thought of the sacrifice I have made in spending so much of my life in Africa. Can that be called a sacrifice which simply paid back a small part of the great debt owed to our God, which we can never fully repay? Is that sacrifice which brings its own reward of the consciences of doing good, peace of mind and a bright hope of a glorious destiny hereafter? Away with such a thought! It is emphatically no sacrifice. It’s rather a privilege: I never made a sacrifice, Of this we ought not to talk when we remember the great sacrifice which He made who left His Father’s Throne on High to give Himself for us”.

Open Heavens 30 April 2015: Thursday daily devotion by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Watch That Backsliding

Topic: Watch that Backsliding [Thursday April 30, 2015]

Memorise: The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself. -Proverbs 14:14

Read: John 6:66-69

66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve,Will ye also go away?

68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

Bible in one Year: Judges 20-21, Matthew 28

MESSAGE:

Backsliding does not happen suddenly. It’s a process that occurs over a period of time, during which a person becomes lax in his thought life and begins to entertain from the path of light to the ways of evil from which one was once saved. There are many prodigal sons and daughters today who have forsaken their first love in the pursuit of materialism. Many workers in the vineyard of God, who started well, have allowed their spiritual fire to grow cold, thereby departing from the faith. Hebrews 10:38 says,
“Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”
A backslider loses interest in the Lord, in the Bible, in prayer, fellowship and witnessing, and eventually turns to the world. It is like a dog returning to its vomit. You will not backslide in Jesus’ Name. The flesh will always find expression when people fail to focus on spiritual things. The flesh expression when people fail to focus on spiritual things. The flesh clouds the minds of God’s children with such things as idle past-times, sports and television, and fills their heart with junk at the expense of spiritual growth. Before you know it, backsliding would have commenced. Someone who has always been very zealous for God will then begin to miss church meetings when there are crucial match fixes. A sister who has been very productive in evangelism will then begin to come late to meetings because of addition to certain television soaps. As Christians who are Heaven bound, we have to be very careful. Let us keep ourselves away from danger zones as much as we can. You have to be very vigilant and sober so that the devil doesn’t drag you to Hell with little things you think do not matter (1 Peter 5:8). Those detrimental “little things” you fail to terminate may end up terminating your destiny (Song of Solomon 2:15)

Remember that even David, a man after God’s heart, fell for Bathsheba. Samson, the Lord’s anointed from the womb, lost his two eyes and was reduced to a prisoner grinding corn inside the enemy’s prison. One of my sons came to me complaining of a problem. He confessed that as every weekend drew to a close; he would get excited, looking forward to the next Monday morning because he would see his secretary again. I told him to disengage her from the job. A proverb in my native tongue says “Stay away from a snake whose head is still intact.” Whatever you can’t control will truncate your destiny. Whatever is capable of destroying your testimony must be avoided. Sometimes you need to apply wisdom and not strength (Ecclesiastes 9:18).

Action Point: Take wise, decisive action on any relationship that has the potential of destroying your testimony.

“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” -Proverbs 11:14

There is no one above counsel. God has ordained that at every point in a man’s life, you have a need to increase your knowledge and become sharper through the help of others that have gone ahead of you. However, it is easier and safer if those you receive counsel from are people who have gone through what you are going through right now and have come out victorious. Also, those who are more spiritual than you may be.

Text: Daniel 10:1-9

Key Verse: “Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength” (Daniel 10:8).

Charles Swindoll, an evangelical Christian pastor and radio preacher, in the course of studying the Scripture, worked himself up with a feeling of finding examples of early believers, whose lives were marked by rigidity, predictability, inhibition, dullness and caution. But his research could not get him anywhere. Instead, Swindoll said: “The examples I find are of adventurous, risk-taking, enthusiastic, and authentic believers whose joy was contagious even in times of full trial. Their vision was broad even when death drew near. Rules were few and changes were welcome. The contrast between then and now is staggering.”

However, the aspect of this song I would like you to consider is this, “I am content with what I have, little be it or more…”

Respect is not all about kneeling to greet, putting words like sir or ma or speaking so highly about someone when with that individual. It is truly exhibited in the way you treat or talk about someone, in their absence. In fact, being good and gracious to someone in their presence but the exact opposite in their absence is called eye service; and that is a high level of disrespect.

Someday, gospel-preaching which has hitherto been the exclusive preserve of the saints on this earth, will be done by angels. Topic: What Do You Know About God? [Sunday April 26, 2015]

Text: Psalm 47:1-9

Key Verse: “The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted” (Psalm 47:9).

In an age of distressing crises and sundry pressures of life, many people are often hesitant in relating
with strangers. Some even adopt the extreme position of showing suspicion towards those they do not
know. In fact, conventional wisdom tells us that the more aware and acquainted you are with a person, the more likely you are able to relate well to him. It follows then that spiritually speaking, the reason many people do not have a flourishing relationship with God is because they really do not know Him.

Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Right Character for Right Marriage (Part 2)

Dear Reader,

We said last week that it takes cultivating right character to build a fulfilled matrimony. Your character can shape your destiny. It is an important tool in your quest for a successful home. A man who could not cultivate a desirable character is bound to fall in life.

Today, another important aspect of a man’s character – The Words of Your Mouth. If you ever dream of building a sweet home, your words must correspond with the Word of God. The Bible says: A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled (Proverbs 18:20).

Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Saturday April 25, 2015 Daily Devotional - Flee Sexual Temptations

Topic: Flee Sexual Temptations [Saturday April 25, 2015]

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”-1 Corinthians 10:13

Sexual temptation in marriage is real! Contrary to popular opinion, getting married does not curb previous habits of fornication; rather, it merely translates into adultery. However, your decision to strongly flee from all forms of temptation and hold on to the faith you profess is your rescue from every trap of the devil.

Bishop David Oyedepo: Encounter with Power through vision!

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams (Acts 2:17).

We are in the last days which are the days of God’s power among the saints. As such, every child of God is empowered to operate in the realms of supernatural exploits; for as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become sons of God (John 1:12).

However, it is important to know that divine vision is one of the most powerful platforms through which we are empowered for supernatural triumph. This is because vision commits the integrity of the omnipotent God to deliver. No wonder men and women in scriptures who walked in God-ordained paths were divinely empowered to fulfil their mission on earth. Therefore, it is wisdom to locate God’s plan and purpose for our lives from time to time (1 Kings 8:23-24).

Apostle Johnson Suleman: I personally told Jonathan to concede defeat

For a while, I was actually a contributor to TELL and I worked with DBN but that was a brief stint. I didn’t have any idea that I was going to be a preacher. I was fulfilled reporting, investigating but when the call came, I couldn’t say yes or no, so it wasn’t a decision, it was a discovery. I didn’t decide to be a preacher; I was called to be a preacher. Like now, I have a TV station, so the journalism instinct still flows. I have written about 60 books and most of the books are bestsellers. So that part of me is not docile yet.

Calbuco, a volcano in southern Chile, erupted after 43 years of dormancy on April 22. The eruption hasn’t caused major damage yet, but it did provide us with imagery that can be a valuable addition to any photographer’s portfolio.

The natural disaster has displaced 5,000 people living near the volcano, who had to leave the area not only because of the eruption itself, but also because of other natural disasters that the eruption could trigger such as landslides, floods, and avalanches (especially avalanches since it is approaching winter time in the southern hemisphere) — volcanic eruptions are not standalone events.

Sometime back, a young man came to me for counsel. He was in a relationship that was headed for marriage, but along the line, that relationship was challenged. In the course of our discussion, I realised that the major issue was that the contribution was one-sided. He did the constant prayers, bought the gifts, made the calls and all the lady did was wait to receive the attention and care. This put a strain on the relationship, because the man was feeling unloved. Eventually, they went their separate ways.

To me the PDP victory celebration is a celebration in the moon as it will take only few weeks for both Chief Wike and his PDP followers to face the reality that you cannot cover the sun with a finger”.

However, most times, these resolutions don’t take more than three to four months before they are broken. Some people don’t even get part the first few days, before they forget all about what they had proposed to do.

As a woman with purpose, walking with a minister in God’s vineyard, you should be a co-builder of his ministry; not pulling it down with your character. Attitude is a very strong force; it controls almost everything in a man’s life.

Politics of Fuel Stares at Buhari

By SKC Ogbonnia

The politics of fuel ignited the downfall of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. The politics of fuel will ultimately ignite the success or failure of the second coming of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).

Perhaps the defeat of Jonathan in the March 28, 2015 presidential election has continued to appear like a weird dream, especially to those familiar with his goodwill, but the murky images become clear once the politics of fuel pops up. The burning issue inflamed when Jonathan tinkered with a national oil subsidy program in the spring of 2012. The fear of increase in pump prices sparked public outcry and mass protests. This situation not only paralyzed the economy, it also helped to expose massive corruption in the subsidy scheme. Even worse, it effortlessly ruptured the balloon of public trust initially inflated by a cocktail of constant promises and the myth of a legendary luck. The president later restored some aspects of the subsidy quite alright, but the damage was already done.
