Daily Independent says a bill has already been sent to the Lagos State House of Assembly for this purpose.
Lagos state residents, speaking to the newspaper, said the plan is 'laughable', noting that the state government has failed to provide the people with basic amenities.
The state government's plan, the paper says, is advised by the long-term environmental impact and future damage to the state and its people due to this 'indiscriminate' and 'uncontrolled' borehole sinking by houseowners, as it is believed it is one of the main culprits of waterborne diseases.
