Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Tuesday December 22, 2015 Daily Devotional – The weapon of prayer
Topic: The weapon of prayer [Tuesday 22 December, 2015]
“(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)” -2 Corinthians 10:4
I remember back then in the children’s church, we were always taught with songs. It was believed that songs and pictures last longer in the memory of children than any other methods of learning. That’s true! One of the songs I was taught was “Prayer is the master key.” It was emphasized that Jesus started with prayers and ended with prayers. No wonder, His ministry was most successful.
Most times, people pray for so many things in life, but forget or don’t pray enough for their family. They usually get to praying, only when there is a nagging issue that they need a breakthrough from. This shouldn’t be! Prayer and your family should be close companions, because we wrestle against principalities and powers and apparently, the family is their first target point.
There is no substitute to your praying fervently and consistently for your spouse, family, children and overall family life. Pray for their daily walk with Christ because you will never know when that tempting situation would come. Prayerfully order and monitor their ways and destiny, so you wouldn’t have to pay direly for your negligence tomorrow.
Understand that God acts in our affairs only in response to our prayers. A wise man asked: “If your children’s (and I dare to say your family’s) success is dependent on your prayer, how successful will they be?” Think about that and take up the challenge today, because no one can do it for you. Commit continuously every aspect of them to God’s hand and just enjoy the rest you derive from doing that. You will never know stress in your family in the name of Jesus Christ!
Remain Blessed!
