I will therefore that men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. 1 Timothy 2:8
It is a know fact that prayer is communication with God, and we are continually admonished by scriptures to pray always (Ephesians 6:18, 1 Thessalonians 5:17). Now we know communication is a two-way thing, where both parties speak and listen to each other. However our communication with God can be hindered because of anger and doubt.
Lets start with anger. Anger is basically fury against some grievance(s). Now, as humans we are prone to get angry at someone or something, or an occurrence. But as Christians - now spirit beings (John 3:6) - we are instructed by scriptures to always forgive and not hold grudge against anyone (Matthew 5:38-41). Christ further instructs us in Matthew 5:23-24 that when we are about to give a gift, and remember that we have a grievance against someone, we should first go and reconcile with the person before coming back to give the gift.
To doubt. Doubt is lack of faith. Now, all the miracles performed in scriptures were based on faith (Luke 7:50; Acts 14:9,etc.) This tells us we receive all things from God by faith, and anything not done with faith does not please God. Hebrews 11:6 says, "but without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." We are instructed to do away with wrath and doubt when praying because they both create blockades between us and God which impedes the communication process. This is because anger naturally builds up a wall in your mind, while doubt says “I don’t believe God can, and even if He can, He might not want to". We must therefore do away with them to enjoy a sweet fellowship as we communicate with God. God wants to hear from you, and He wants you to hear from Him also, and receive answers to your prayers.
Keep winning daily.
Prayer:
Dear Father, thank You for giving me the privilege to communicate with You. Teach me daily to do away with wrath and doubt, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
