Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Friday October 30, 2015 Daily Devotional – Take that bold step

Topic: Take that bold step [Friday 30 October, 2015]

“But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.”-2 Timothy 2:16

I think the hardest part in any relationship is calling it off. Accepting someone into your life is much easier for most people, than having to tell them you don’t want them anymore; even when it’s obvious the relationship would destroy you, otherwise. This is why some people find themselves in wrong marriages. Most times, they knew at some point that getting married to that person might pose a threat in the future, but they lacked the courage to call it off.

This happens majorly because of their consideration of the years, time, energy, resources and even the people who may already be involved. However, you must know that the resources you use in building a house notwithstanding, if the foundation is faulty, the building will, at some point, collapse. Breaking a wrong premarital relationship is not considered as divorce and should not be mistaken for one.

Your saying “yes” to a marital proposal is different from saying “I do” to your marital vows. Many tolerate themselves in courtship because they feel they are bound by their “words”, and end up in problematic marriages. You should also understand that the introduction of both parents is not a marital tie. If you are uncomfortable with each other now, you should be bold enough to let that relationship go.

Preparation for marriage is not just in prayers, but in fact-finding and an intelligent analysis of available facts, to determine if there is a future in your decision to get married to that person or not. However, if there is no future in it, then you must seek to move forward. Therefore, if you are struggling in that relationship today, marriage would not make it right. You must take a bold step to come out of it right now; before you embark on a disastrous journey. You will not see shame or regrets in the name of Jesus Christ!

Remain Blessed!
