Text: Romans 4:14-17 (TLB)
Before Jesus Christ came to pay the requirement of the law, every blessings enjoyed by the Israelites was hinged on their obedience of the law of Moses. For them to prosper in the land God gave them, they had to obey the law. For God to be their ally in the battles they fought, they had to obey the law. For them to enjoy all round peace they had to obey the law. There was nothing they had and enjoyed from God that was not hinged on their obedience of the Mosaic law. And failure to obey the law spells devastating catastrophe for them (Deuteronomy 28:1-68). But all that changed with the coming of Jesus Christ.
Grace, which came as a result of Jesus' death, not only gives us assess to God's life but to all His promises and blessings, as long as our faith in Jesus is sustained. Romans 4:16 (TLB) says: so God’s blessings are given to us by faith, as a free gift; we are certain to get them whether or not we follow Jewish customs if we have faith like Abraham’s, for Abraham is the father of us all when it comes to these matters of faith." Abraham assessed all God's blessings without obeying a single law. God only required his faith. And that is also God's intention for us.
"But the fact of the matter is this: when we try to gain God’s blessing and salvation by keeping his laws we always end up under his anger, for we always fail to keep them. The only way we can keep from breaking laws is not to have any to break" (Romans 4:15 TLB). God does not want us to be law breakers, neither does He wants us to be good enough for us to enjoy His blessings (Romans 4:14 TLB). That's why He made them available to us free of charge. Faith is your only requirement to enjoy God's blessings, not a set of rules, because God's grace has made His blessings available for you.
Keep winning daily.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for Your grace that has provided your blessings for me to enjoy. My faith is always alive to access all that Your grace has provided for me. I do not waver in faith, but I am strong in faith, giving glory to You, in Jesus' name. Amen.
