Becoming a Man after God's Heart

And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will. Acts 13:22. Read: Ps 42:1-2

The life of David is a model to emulate, he possessed Christian qualities that would endure forever. His life was full of true love (Agape) for God Almighty, His presence, His Word and His people. Like Paul said in 1 Cor 11:1, Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. No man would say such until such person is sold out to Christ totally. Gal 2:20. Becoming a man after God's heart entails many things which if one can pay the price, it's possible. But then, the life of David is a good platform to learn to be a man after God's heart.

What are the things that made David a man after God's heart? If those things can be identified, then it's possible to attain such position in God's heart too. The first thing that qualified David before God was that, he could do the will of God perfectly without holding back.

Other things that made David a man after God's heart are, David loved God's presence more than any other places in the world. He couldn't just do without God's presence for a second like some of us do. We prefer to go to party, club house, see movies  than His presence. The Word of God and His presence were better than life to David. He was always happy to be in His presence. Ps 122:1. He was always thirsty for God and Jesus said in Matt  5:6, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. God filled him.

* Father, help me to be a man after Your heart by desiring Your presence, Your Word more than my necessary food in Jesus Name.
