And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. Luke 6:33. Lk 6:30-34
It's natural for man to expect reward from a fellow man after a kind gesture. Even Jesus who gave the golden rule said in Luke 6:31, And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. As a result, many do things for others expecting such people to reward them in return and when such reward is not forthcoming, you hear things like, "If not for me that helped him/her, he/she wouldn't have been able to get to that height". But now, to even greet me is a problem let alone to reward me. Giving to man and expecting such person to reward you is not given as unto the Lord but unto self. Such fellow usually end up being disappointed. Your giving must be as unto the Lord before it can be adequately rewarded by God and man.
To save yourself from human disappointment (because man is an embodiment of disappointment), you must know and do what the Bible says in Colossians 3:23-24, And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed towards his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Heb 6:10. Man cannot reward enough but, Look up to God for your reward which is the best.

* Human reward is good but God's reward is better and best. Look up to Him for your help and reward and He will remember all6 your offerings. God bless you in Jesus Name
