Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Romans 8:35
To separate means to divide, to disconnect. To be separated from the love of Christ therefore means to be disconnected from His love, and stop enjoying the benefits thereto. When faced with difficult and trying situations, and it seems like we have been forgotten by God, we may be tempted to ask where God is and question the promise of love that saves.
Intense continuous persecution made Paul recall the words of the Psalmist thus, "as it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." (Romans 8:36). He, however, knowing the truth of our reconciliation with God through Christ (1 Corinthians 5:19), went ahead to say "nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:37-39)
This means that when reconciled, nothing in the world can take us out of God's love. This is an everlasting hope. God is always with us.
Keep winning daily.
Prayer:
Thank You Lord for reconciling me to You, and for making us inseparable by Your love. Help me therefore to walk everyday with this consciousness, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
