Winning Wisdom: Unto God

Topic: Unto God [Thursday, 23rd March 2017]

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. Colossians 3:23

Everyday we do stuff. We have to do things for people around us: our father, mother, siblings, friends, even people we don't know. Some we like and are interested in, some we detest and wish we never had to do them. Sometimes, we even grumble through the tasks we have to do, maybe because we don't like the persons we do them for, but we can't say no for one reason or another.

Now, we've been clearly instructed from scriptures not to murmur (Philippians 2:14). How then do we go about doing things for people we don't like, or unappreciative people without murmuring? Colossians 3:23 gives us the answer: to do everything we do heartily to the Lord, and not to men. How does this help us? When we do things for men, we expect them to notice our efforts, and then appreciate us, or even reciprocate the things done. But since man is insatiable, and usually bound to disappoint, they may not notice the efforts we put in, and sometimes when they notice, they may not appreciate us as much as we want them to. They may even criticize the work done! But if we do it as unto God, we know that "God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shown toward his name..." (Hebrews 6:10).

Nothing we do for the Lord is forgotten by Him, and though we may not get recognition for it, He will surely reward us.

Again, when everything we do is unto God, our daily activities will be continual worship to Him. Romans 14:7-8 says "For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's."

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear God thank You for life, and the strength to do the things I'm able to do. Help me everyday to do all things to You, and for Your glory, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
