Text: John 19:28-30
Very significant to us is Jesus' last statement on the cross: "it is finished". Jesus came to give us victory over sin, Satan and hell. And when He said "it is finished", He was affirming the completion of the whole package of redemption. Redemption is complete. Neither Jesus nor God the Father needs to add anything to the work forever fulfilled and finished on the cross. Neither can we add to it any other way.
'It is finished' is one word in Greek, _tetelestai._ It declares that the work has been done, and the results will continue. Not only was Jesus' redemptive work and mission fulfilled, but all who believe can continue to draw on the work accomplished at Calvary. So all who put their faith in Jesus' death on the cross experience the results of the work on the cross - wrought, perfected and completed by Jesus.
Jesus is resting from His completed work. We are to labour to enter into His rest. But guess what, all you need to enter into His rest is your faith in Him. Scriptures say in "Hebrews 4:10-11 - "for he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief." Our labour is to stay in faith and the result of His finished work on the cross will be ever present.
Keep winning daily.
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for completing the work of my redemption. My faith is on the finished work of Calvary that you have done, and the result of Your finished work is evident in my life daily, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
