Topic: Season of Gift Giving [23/12/2016]
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16. Read: Matt 2:11
Apart from this season being a season of great joy, it's also a season of giving of gifts. The main reason God sent Jesus Christ to be born to this world was to rescue men from their sin and reconcile them back to their God. God's love for His creatures prompted Him to give Jesus His only begotten Son to this world as a proof of His love. When you are deeply in love with someone, you can give anything for that person just to prove the level of your love. The essence of this season is not just for you to celebrate alone with your family, look out for those who are not privileged like you and give a helping hand. Send them gifts in form of money, food stuffs and other gift items. The Bible in 1 John 3:17 says, "But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?" Apart from this season, let giving be your lifestyle.
The wise men proved their love to Jesus Christ the new born by giving Him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Always remember that "Giving is living" and that "Whatever you give might leave your hand but wouldn't leave your life".

* Go out there, look for who to share the joy of Christmas with (no matter how small) by giving him/her a gift of any kind and God will reward your labour of love.
