Topic: Give Yourself This Gift [24/01/2017]
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. Read: 1 Jn 1:7-10
Oftentimes when we commit sin and go to God for forgiveness, we believe that He has forgiven us. But later, we suddenly discover that there is still guilt in our hearts that makes us feel that God did not forgive us initially and we begin to ask questions, why has God not forgiven me despite the fact I have repented? Why am I still having guilty conscience over this issue? Listen, once you commit sin and you confess it to God Almighty, immediately you receive forgiveness, God cannot use what He has already forgiven to torment you again. Then, why am I still weighed down by the same sin?
Prior to that some of us think sometimes that it's the devil that tries to remind us is not correct. Forgiveness is a gift from God to us, but forgiving yourself is a gift you give to yourself consciously and deliberately. You must know that, when God has forgiven you and you fail to forgive yourself, His forgiveness wouldn't work for you. When you fail to forgive yourself (when God has forgiven you), you render God's forgiving power ineffective. To enjoy God's forgiveness is to forgive yourself. Forgiving yourself is a self gift, so forgive yourself and be free indeed.
