Let God be first! (4) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Dear Reader,

I thank God for the privilege and opportunity to share with you on this column. Last week, I taught on ingratitude towards God. Today, I want to teach on the subject which I have titled: Jesus Christ is the key to lasting peace. The presence of Christ in any home guarantees peace because He is the “Prince of Peace, Wonderful and the Counsellor (Isaiah 9:6).

Whenever there is peace, you can be sure that Christ is present. He causes wonderful things to take place in the home, making it always a place of excitement and laughter, if you care to put Him first and let Him be the head of your home. If you let God be first in your home and family, He will counsel you on what steps to take to ensure love, peace, joy and fulfilment in your home.

God’s desire is to see His people live in peace but since He has made the earth (Philippians 2:9-10), there is no way you can secure the peace of God for your home without allowing Christ to be the head of your family and to take the lead in all your affairs. It is only in Christ that you can find peace. The Word of God says, These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33).

Christ must be allowed to be a living presence in your home and not just an inscription or painting. There is a popular inscription in a lot of families (especially Christian homes) which says, “Christ is the Head of this home, the unseen Guest at every meal, the silent Listener to every conversation.” Are you in need of peace in your home? Then, make Christ –the Prince of Peace, the head of your home. How do you do that?

Get your family saved: This is the first step to take in securing peace in your home. In other words, you must take definite and practical steps to be born again and then, get all your family members saved. The Word of God says, Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3).             Salvation is not in church attendance: it is one thing to be a member of a particular church and another to be born again. You may have a family church and bear a Christian name; these do not make you a born-again Christian. Someone explained it like this: “Going to a poultry farm on a daily basis does not make a man a chicken.” It will take undergoing a supernatural change for a man to become a chicken. Why then do some people think that going to church daily and even sleeping there from morning till night will make them Christians! It will take a supernatural change or operation for a sinner to be born again or become a child of God!

Whether you are a member of a church or you even take part in one of the activity groups in your local church, the question is: are you born again? It is only after this that the church you attend or the service group you belong to, becomes relevant. Other than this, you are merely practicing religion. If you want Christ to be the Head of your family, it comes by being born again, not by being religious.  The Word of God says, Acquaint now thyself with Him, and be at peace; thereby good shall come unto thee (Job 22:21).

Parents, it is your duty to ensure that you do all that is in your power to make your children accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Don’t think they are too young. I made the decision that Christ must be the Head in my own family long ago and to the glory of God, it is not only my husband and I that are born again, but all our children also. We have been enjoying unending peace ever since. Jesus Christ, Who has done this for me and my family, can do the same for you, if you will let Him because He is not partial (Acts 10:34-35).

Right now, I want you to put your faith in God and your right hand on your chest. As I pray, the power of God will hit them wherever they are and give you the miracle you desire. God says; “We and our household shall be saved” (Acts 16:31).

For every reader desiring this miracle of salvation for their household, I, by the Holy Spirit, break the power of sin and satan over your loved ones in Jesus’ name, and I command liberty and salvation to be their portion!

In case you are reading this article today and you are not born again, you need to do so now before it is too late. Being born again entails confessing and forsaking your sins, then, accepting and confessing Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. If you are set for this new birth experience, please say this prayer: “Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the living God. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”

If you prayed this simple prayer, you are now a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

Congratulations! You are now born again! All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name. Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org; OR 07026385437 and 08141320204.
