Topic: Beginning With God [January 1, 2017]
Text: John 15:1-8
Key Verse: "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing" (John 15:5).
Christopher Columbus, the Genoese sailor that world history credited with the discovery of the American continent, died erroneously believing he had opened the route to India. He began his famous sea trip in 1492, hoping to land in spice-rich Asia but ended up elsewhere. Every man-made thing he relied on - compass, tested trade maps, books, bird-flights, charts, etc. failed the great admiral. The story is different with Abraham who had similar adventure thousands of years earlier (Genesis 12:5).
Thought for the day: Starting the year with God guarantees year-round victory.
