Duduwale heading to Buckingham Palace ... walking for peace

Duduwale made the headlines when he successfully completed the long journey from Yola, the capital of Adamawa to Abuja FCT by foot.

The Yola North resident named Abubakar Umar by birth who trekked for 18 days 'in solidarity' with the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the polls, has now began another challenging trek to the Queen's Palace in London, for peace.

In the beginning of this year, Duduwale announced his intention to walk to Buckingham Palace in the hope of raising awareness of 'drug abuse' amongst young people in Nigeria.

The purpose of the journey, he confirmed in an exclusive interview with APC UK, is to inspire youths to "shun drugs abuse and violence and embrace peace."

A huge supporter of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in last year's election, Duduwale who began the 'trek for peace' on January 4, this year, is now in Katsina state.

The 'King of trekking' who was once detained by the People Democratic Party (PDP) led government during the 2003 Presidential and governorship elections due to his vehement support for President Buhari was honoured by the Emir of Daura, Katsina, the home town of the country's Commander-in-Chief.

In the past, Duduwale was received by Binta Masi Garba, former President of Nigeria, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), former Governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Turaki of Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar yet one of his most remarkable moments he says was meeting President Buhari.

He spoke joyfully about the invitation to the inauguration ceremony that took place on May 29 2015. “I was highly grateful to have met with Buhari,” he expressed.

Duduwale currently visiting schools is expected to be in Abuja in June/July and plans to meet with the President again. He is also hoping to get the backing of the National Assembly, Bukola Saraki over the enactment of “laws that will see drug dealers receive heavy penalties when caught."

Speaking directly to APC UK by telephone, Duduwale spoke at length on how he aims to bring peace to the nation by speaking to Elder Statesmen on his journey to the United Kingdom, where he hopes he can meet Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

From Katsina, he is to walk to Zamfara - Sokoto - Kebbi - Kaduna - Niger - Abuja – Lagos, Benin rep - Togo - Ghana, where he is expected to board a flight to Heathrow airport.

A translator for Duduwale informed APC UK the remaining journey (35.5665 kilometres) to the London residence of the Queen will be made by feet.

"I will meet the Emir of Sokoto who is known as the Muslim leader in Nigeria, former President Shehu shagari and the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Father Matthew Kuka - "They are all advocates of Peace," he said.

“Wherever I go, I will meet with Elder Statesperson and present them with prayers and blessings. I also intend to discuss how we can bring peace to our nation with them.”
