Real Madrid wins 2016 UEFA Champions League

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the all important spot-kick after Juanfran crucially missed as Zinedine Zidane's charges claimed their 11th European Cup at the San Siro on Saturday

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the all important spot-kick as Real Madrid overcame fierce rivals Atletico Madrid to claim their 11th Champions League crown 5-4 penalties after extra-time.

The Portuguese stepped up to fire the winning penalty past Jan Oblak after Juanfran crucially struck the post for Atletico Madrid at the San Siro.

Sergio Ramos gave Real the lead after 15 minutes as he stabbed the ball beyond Oblak from inside the six-yard box, though the Spain international was actually offside.

Antoine Griezmann missed a penalty minutes after the interval but Atletico clawed their way back into the match after sustitute Yannick Carrasco smashed home Juanfran's cross, sending the tie into extra time...

  1. It was expected for Saturday's game to end in a draw. Ronaldo's last goal came as a nice surprise. It is good to see Real Madrid scoring a victory in this match and adding one more trophy of UEFA Champions League.
