White House on lockdown after shots fired

The White House has been put on lockdown after shots were fired outside the north entrance. The person reportedly shot west of the White House.

Visitors wrote on Twitter that they saw ‘lots of people with guns’ after shots were heard outside.

The shooting took place on 17th and East Pennsylvania, the United States Park Police said.

Press at the White House were told to ‘shelter in place’.
