Topic: Don't Despair [June 26, 2016]
Text: Job 3:1-10
Key Verse: "After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day" (Job 3:1).
We do not appreciate the power of the experiences of life to alter our character and shape our behaviour until we face difficult circumstances. At such a time, even the strongest of men begins to act like a weakling. It could actually get worse for many people as they lose the will to live. It was not different with Job.
A perfect and upright man without equal in all the earth, a man well beloved and pleasing to God. He was surprised to the point of confusion by the streak of mysterious misfortune that befell him. Satan began to work on his mind until it got to the point when he opened his mouth and cursed the day he was born, that it was better if he had not been born, since his life had turned into a ridicule and a most excruciating experience. Of course, he spoke without wisdom as he cursed his day, but even in his suffering he never lost his sense of reverence and integrity, and therefore, did not curse God. As we face challenges in life, some of which we neither deserve nor understand, we must never allow our suffering to make us question or doubt God. Irrespective of the sore experience we may be having, we must never forget that God knows about it.

If He seems to delay His answer to our cries, it is not because He does not care, but rather He is working out a far more beneficial outcome for us. We must stand firm in our faith and never doubt that in due course, He will come to our rescue.
Thought for the day: In all situations, rest in the Lord, and take heart.
