President Buhari should call for a referendum – Niger Delta Avengers

Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) has said that President Muhammadu Buhari should ‘borrow a leaf from British Prime Minister David Cameron and call for a referendum to enable Nigerians vote if they want to stay as Nigerians or not.’

A few days ago, Britain voted to leave the European Union, forcing the resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron.

In a statement on Saturday, the militant group bombing oil installations want the Nigerian President to do the same.

“President Buhari borrow a leaf from PM David Cameron, call for a referendum and let Nigerians decides like they did to vote you into Power,” NDA said.

The Avengers want greater ownership of oil resources for the people who live in oil producing areas. They want environmental repair and compensation for damages inflicted by oil producers. And they want continued government funding for an amnesty program that is largely credited with halting the last round of Delta violence.
