Topic: Build The Church [4/7/2016]
Text: Matthew 16:15-18
The building of the church is of great importance to not only us as members of the church, but to Jesus Christ as the head of the church. The gates of hell wants to prevail against the church. And the only way that will be possible is if it can stop the "building of the church". A built church can withstand anything Satan throws at it. The parable of Jesus Christ about the rocky and sandy foundation in Matthew 7:24-28 explains this.
The church was founded on a revelational knowledge. "And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:16-18). And also, the church can only be built by the revelational knowledge of God's Word. Not by any other means, but by the revelational knowledge of the Word - Jesus Christ.
Hosea 4:6 says: "my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee..." As members of the church, we must apply ourselves to the revelational knowledge of God's Word. That is the only way to withstand the onslaught of the gates of hell. Through it we take hold of the shield of faith to quench the fiery darts of Satan. In the parable of the sower, we see that Satan's major interest is to steal God's Word from us. If he succeeds in stealing the Word, then he can kill and destroy us (John 10:10) Never allow that to happen. Hold firm to God's Word that you've known and go for more of His Word. Be rich in the knowledge of God's Word and the gates of hell will never prevail against you.
Keep winning daily.
Prayer:
I am built upon the foundation of the revelational knowledge of God's Word. I am full of God's Word, which brings faith to me that quenches the fiery darts of the gates of hell. The devil can never prevail against me. I am undefeated and unmoveable like Mount Zion because of God's Word. I am a victor always in Jesus name. Amen.
