The defection of Mohammed Ali, impeached former Chairman of Dekina LGA who claimed he was defecting alongside thirteen others to APC yesterday as stated in a press conference, followed the refusal of Gov Idris Wada, to assist him return to office following an Appeal Court Ruling that reinstated sacked council Chairmen in the State.
Mohammed Ali as council chairman was impeached over allegation of financial misconduct and embezzlement.
A government source that would want to remain anonymous, described the action of Mohammed Ali as one borne out of mischief, stating that he was never a chairman as at the time the Appeal Court delivered its ruling.
The source described as good riddance to bad rubbish his defection, disclosing that what was upper most on his mind was to be reinstated alongside the chairmen with a mindset to perpetuate the looting of the council treasury.
While describing as mischievous his claim of defecting alongside other Chairmen he failed to mention their names, the source said Mohammed and few others were behind the sufferings by council workers, noting that despite the fall in allocation to state's and council areas, Mohammed and his likes contributed to looting their council purse.
According to the source, following the nullification of the election of the council Chairmen by a Koton-Karfe high court early this year, Mohammed Ali had since pitched tent with the APC, said his action is of no political consequences.
While noting that those who are alleged to have defected had upper most on their mind after the Appeal Court Judgment ordered their reinstatement, the urge to take the advantage of the percentage payment they were used to paying to loot council funds as they have done while in office, thus the governor's insistence for due process and proper audit to enable those reinstated know the true state of council finances before the resume angered Mohammed who claimed he was acting for and on behalf of the chairmen.
It would be recalled that following his financial recklessness, Mohammed Ali was suspended by councilors from Dekina LGA. His few months in office left the Council heavily indebted. He was in the forefront for instigating the chairmen against the governor while as Chairman, in a press conference left for the APC after what sources called a handsome monetary offer made to him by the APC.
While calling on well meaning citizens of the state to disregard Mohammed's outburst as lacking in political significance, Abu said the winning of the saturday's governorship election by Capt Wada is a decision that people hold sacrosanct.
