Topic: God Is Still In Control [Thursday November 19, 2015]

Text: Psalm 93:1-5

Key Verse: “The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea” (Psalm 93:4).

You may have heard the story of the man that got insanely frustrated about God and decided to spit at Him. As he positioned his mouth heavenward and spat, the wind returned the full measure of the spittle upon his face. God possesses a deep sense of humour.

As the scepter of unbelief and ungodliness is being raised today in line with the long predicted end-time norms, it is important to reassure ourselves that the almighty God is still in control. The 93rd Psalm most eloquently captures the universal and eternal government of God. Plainly, it states that “The LORD reigneth”. His reign has been from eternity past; He reigns till date and will reign forever. He reigns over every being and everything we call nature. He is clothed with pure majesty and strength. The monarchs of this world may be decked out in finest of royal robes, but what is the dim glow of the firefly in comparison to the full strength of the sun!

The earth, the order in it and all planets derive their stability only from His providence. Although Satan may lift up floods of opposition and waves of persecution to blur the brilliance of the glory of the Omnipotent, He remains, “I AM THAT I AM”. He is on high and is mightier than the noise of doubt and unbelief, human philosophies and profanity, willful ignorance and brazen rebellion. His word and revelation are infallible and everything about Him is holy. The true Church of God eagerly awaits the fuller demonstration of this glory at the millennial reign of Christ. Meanwhile, it pays to have a deeper understanding of God’s true nature and His sovereignty. This will bring us more comfort, confirmation, courage, confidence and commitment.

Thought for the day: God must first reign in you before you can reign with Him.
