Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Tuesday November 10, 2015 Daily Devotional – Why this Temptation?
Topic: Why this Temptation? [Tuesday 10 November, 2015]
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”-1 Corinthians 10:13
Uncle Job East was a very wealthy and content man, until a great trial befell him. He lost everything he had ever worked for and lived for; his children, properties and businesses, in one day. It was like “all hell had been let loose,” and everything was working against him. He had two options: to either curse God and die or trust Him even if it seemed worthless. However, he chose the latter and it paid off for him.
Just as the experience of Job, I have often had people ask these questions over and again: if God truly loves and watches over me, why does He allow trials? According to them, they feel that they are confronted with that situation because God does not really care about them. However, they are wrong! He cares so much about you, even in the heat of that trial. He is concerned about all of you, even to the strand of your hair.
One thing I have come to realise is, just as there are examinations in all schools, the school of life would always set exams for you. You can’t run away from them, everyone must be made to write his or her own exams. Your success or failure in it, determines your next phase and everyone has the ability to succeed in his or her given examination. More so, you get to learn how to confront the next test through your last experience and also help someone else through theirs.
There is nothing you are going through today that is new, and no trial is expected to last forever. However, as the above Scripture says, there is always a way of escape. If you can just look beyond that trial, you will see God’s everlasting arm waiting to help you to that greener side. God cannot leave you helpless; neither will He allow go through a temptation that is beyond you. That trial is just a phase. Remember, “There is always light at the end of the tunnel.” Build your strength in the face of it all, and triumph in all things.
Remain Blessed!
