The Mystery Of One Flesh! (4) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Dear Reader,

I count it a great privilege to share God’s Word with you again today. Last week, I taught on “Spiritual Fortification”, as one of the benefits of oneness.

This week, I will yet be showing you another benefit of oneness, which I tagged, Financial Strengthening!

Considering this benefit, it is very important for husband and wife to be financially transparent to one another. The operation of the mystery of “one flesh” does not give room to ambiguity between couples, especially when it concerns money matters.  There should be no “his” and “her” in family finances.

God’s Word says: And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed (Genesis 2:25).  The word “naked” in the above scripture means ‘openness’ to each other. If a couple is open to each, they will not know shame and their home will be peaceful. Therefore, if you don’t want shame in your home, don’t play hide-and-seek game. Be straight-forward and open-minded.

“Trust” is the key to family finances. Husband and wife must trust each other enough to put their money together and be prudent in spending it. This is why accountability is very important; it helps to boost trust.

In some cultures, the men believe that it is a shameful thing for their wives to know how much they earn. But the truth is, if you hide your earning from your wife, she will definitely make demands that are beyond your means, as she doesn’t know how much you earn.  You have to make up your mind, whether to hold on to culture or to hold on to God’s Word.

Some women also believe that their husbands alone are responsible for providing for the home. They will even quote Scriptures to back up this belief.  Wife, don’t keep your money for the purpose of buying the latest clothes, shoes and headgear in town only.

Money has never been a source of tension in our home.  Even while I was earning a few hundreds of naira a month, I found it easy to kneel down and present all my salary to my husband. He never had to coerce or force me to do so; I saw it as the wisdom of God.  “Money” has put many homes asunder; don’t let it put yours asunder.

The grace to support your spouse in every realm only comes by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. That is what being born again is all about. If you are set for it, please say this prayer: “Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the living God.  I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”

If you prayed this simple prayer, you are now a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

Congratulations! You are now born again! All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name. Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org; OR 07026385437 and 08141320204.
