Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. Mark 10:28
Sometimes, we, like Peter did in our text, tell the Lord, "Lord I have left all, and followed you. What's in it for me?" Is it wrong to ask this question? From the response of Jesus, which we are going to see, no, it is not wrong. It is a valid question. We need to know what is in it for us as we follow Jesus. God is delighted to let us know, so that we can explore all that is in it for us to the fullest. Jesus said to his followers in Luke 12:32 - "fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."
There are a lot in it for us as we follow Jesus. And Jesus wants us to enjoy all. He said in Mark 10:29: "there is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life." This should get us excited. We are not giving up things for the Lord in vain. He's got stuffs already packaged for us.
He was not only talking about the packages waiting for us when He comes to take us to be with Him, but the ones He has packaged for us here on earth. If you have given up a father, you have fathers waiting for you. There is nothing you have denied yourself in your bid to follow Jesus, that you won't get in hundred-fold. So don't be anxious about what you might lose, because in Christ you have more than enough. Keep following Jesus.
Keep winning daily.
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know You have gotten lots of packages for me as I follow you. I lose my life to follow You. I am devoted to You and I won't lose sight of You as You lead me on the path You have chosen for me, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
